Atlantis II is an ongoing study of time’s influence on mark-making, where composite rocks of frozen pigments are allowed to melt and sink through stacks of Chinese rice paper. The dissolving pigments form soft islands on paper, evoking imagery of breath, islands, and sea, which first blossom and then disappear as they move deeper. Rooted in an interest in process, transformation, and fleeting beauty, the work uses ice as its primary material.

Here, the exploration of time as residue, presents itself in repeated archipelagoes of soft colour that gradually shrink and fade. Seamed together, their ghost-like peripheries form a tapestry of time akin to film spools, exploring time in shrinking repetition towards complete disappearance.
